The students of A. M. N. Elementary School live off the road system in the remote Alaskan village of Aniak, Alaska with a population of about 500 people. Opportunities for extra-curricular activities, especially related to STEM fields are slim-to-none in Aniak. This year the staff at our school district office has decided to get a robotics program started in the district. Funds have been secured to register our team for competitions in the state, and purchase our very first robotics kit. However, we are still in need of many items to be able to fully participate. Since Aniak is an island, we will be having to fly to any robotics competitions that we attend. This is why we need the hard sided case for transporting our materials. We need the poster board for presenting our innovative project, and the binder & dividers for organizing our engineering notebook. With your donation, we can purchase the supplies needed not only to build a robot, but also the materials needed to complete our project presentation, store our lego robotics pieces, and carry them with us when we travel to competitions. The Robotics program we are participating in is called First LEGO League (FLL). FLL is a program that was created in 1989 and its goal is to get children excited about science and technology. Each year FLL teams must work on an innovative project. This year for the project our team must identify a problem with a building or public space in our community and design a solution. By working on this challenge our students will be exposed to potential career paths, in addition solidifying the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) principles that naturally come from participating in the program.
