Having a calming space inside of my special education classroom entitles my students to a quiet and safe space to decompress and find serenity. I will use the materials that are funded through this project to create a space in which my students can take a brain break or minute of mindfulness. Due to the challenging nature of the dual curriculum, my students deserve a space where they have no academic and artistic expectations. My students deserve a space to chill out and reflect. Having a space to learn mindfulness strategies and calming techniques will allow my students to avoid the burnout from their core academic classes and their artistic major classes.
