The requested books will be part of a program our fifth grade will be doing this year called A Book A Day. Over the course of 180 days my students as well as the students in my colleagues' rooms will listen to one book every day of the school year. These books will come from a variety of authors and cover a variety of topics. I want the 31 books on my list to use as part of those 180 days so that we can foster conversations about race, racism, social justice and activism within this school year. We have a bulletin board set up with a spot for a picture of the cover of each of those books so hopefully it also spreads interest in reading those book titles within the larger school community.
