I incorporate technology in the classroom naturally with my subject, but I also know that cell phones can be an issue. When not used productively, cell phones limit student engagement and hinder their ability to learn. A student who is constantly checking his/her phone for the next message and/or playing a non-school related game is one who is not interacting with his peers, the teacher, or the curriculum. I am building a classroom charging station for 24 students. This enables me to positively reinforce student technology and will be helpful for my students who put in long hours working. The station will require funds to purchase charging ports and cords that supports 24 student cell phones.
