My students love story time! We also like to celebrate as a class with dance parties or listen to songs during morning meeting that help us practice gross motor and social skills. Our curriculum even comes with a audiobook version of stories that are read as a whole group read aloud. With a CD player and set of audiobooks, we will be able to set up a Listening Center where students have a copy of the book to follow along. Listening to a story more than one time helps students to achieve objectives like retelling stories, asking and answering questions about the story, and learning new vocabulary. It's also important for my student to learn that reading is fun! This CD player will work with the resources we already have in the classroom while also adding new stories for children to enjoy.
