This project is to create an area on our campus that would be JUST for seniors. This would be their own special space that would be student friendly, comfortable, and a place where they would want to visit often. Once there, this space would serve as an area where they could find information to help them finalize their post-secondary plan. However, this wouldn't be a place just for "college-bound" seniors. The information available to them could include careers available in our area, internships, college/scholarships, resume building, military, trade schools, ect... Another group of students we work with and who are close to my heart are the students at risk for graduation. I want them to come into an area that is encouraging and not punitive, where they find an environment that fosters positive relationships with other adults who are trying to help them graduate. The materials will make this senior hub feel like a comfortable, student friendly and enticing place. We want to attract the students to come and spend time with peers and caring adults in a place that does not feel like another classroom. We want to make it special for them.
