My students will use GarageBand to explore genres in music. I will have students analyze songs that they enjoy listening to and identify elements that they like in those songs. Then I will have them take these elements and create songs inspired by them using the loop library. Students can take their piano playing skills to the next level using MIDI instruments and composing their own songs. I want them to be able to perform, record, and hopefully incorporate some technological elements in their live performances. I would also love the opportunity to teach my students some basic computer science skills so that they can make music using code.
