Imagine students who get excited about what they're reading. Imagine them sitting in small groups, intelligently discussing not only literature, but controversial topics such as cloning, plastic surgery, abortion, and social media. Imagine socratic circles, classroom debates, and riveting argumentative papers. Dystopian literature circles can bring controversial topics alive for my students. Help me contextualize these issues for the kids in my classroom. Help me give them examples, scenarios, potential consequences, and more by putting the right dystopian books in their hands. Literature can take a topic that would normally be difficult and bring it to life. Help me give my kids new worlds of thought to explore.
