The gliding rocking chair will be used in my classroom to help my students with their sensory needs, self-soothe, and to also provide them with another option for seating in my classroom. I believe my students will be more engaged when they are able to meet their sensory needs. Many of my students in my classroom need opportunities to move throughout the day. Providing an alternative seating will help them become more independent in their early learning. It will also help them to focus more on the assigned tasks. I also believe that when students are calm or self-regulated that they will have greater access to higher level thinking and learning.
