Classroom seating is a large part of how effective students will learn and the variety of seating options diminishes the chance that it will become a barrier to learning. The ball chairs are a great example of a seating option which will appeal to students who cannot handle the rigidness of a traditional chair. These chairs will also appeal to students who need a more cushioned seating option for medical or personal reasons. Similarly, the couch for the reading area in our classroom will provide a more comfortable and relaxing area for some readers instead of on the floor or in a chair. My students work more effectively and are less prone to disrupting the class when they have a variety of seating options. Seating in the classroom has traditionally been seen as a rigid selection of desks and chairs with little thought to the comfort of the students. I believe that with your donation you will create an environment where my students will work harder with another learning barrier removed.
