11th grade English is such an exciting course, because students get to experience American Literature! Living in America is a unique experience where people are exposed to all walks of life. One of the best ways to have these experiences is to read books! This year we want to study the American experience from the immigrant's perspective. The Joy Luck Club deals with the children of Chinese immigrants who exist in both worlds, but find it difficult to belong to either one. We want to explore this idea considering so many Americans feel the exact same way. There are so many projects, analytical essays, and discussions that we can have if we only had the books to read.
