As a school counselor, I want to have an office space that is calm and inviting for all students. I want students to walk through the door and feel like they are enveloped in warmth and love. By adding soft lighting, calming sounds, and comfortable seating, I believe children will feel more comfortable in my office space and they will be able to focus on their social/emotional development. When students visit the school counselor to discuss a difficult situation, it is important that they feel like they are in a calm and safe environment. I truly believe that environment is the 3rd teacher and I want to teach mindfulness and compassion through the environment.
