Our school strongly emphasizes the importance of STEM. Due to COVID-19, hands-on materials were not purchased. I want my students to experience 1st grade as normal as possible including students on remote learning. These materials will make a difference in my students’ learning by allowing them to build and be creative through STEM. Students will love building and exploring using Legos. This year in math they will be learning place value, double digits, mastering counting within 100, as well as understanding grouping. My goal is to give each student in my class a set of materials to use as "hands-on" during math and in science to apply concepts. Learning should be fun and it should include the use of the five senses. My students thrive when they are able to use tactile materials - it's how they experienced the world as newborns. Please help my students continue some normalcy during this "new" norm.
