Many of our students live in generational poverty and come to us with little hope for the future. Some live in homes without electricity, without enough food and basic necessities are not always available. We are working on breaking the cycle of poverty and changing mindsets. Bringing students on college visits increases the likelihood that they will see a college education as a part of their future and for many of our students, the AVID program is the only support they will ever get when it comes to bettering themselves educationally. We are working on long-term goals here, want our students to experience success and know that these visits bring the real-life experience that is often lacking for our scholars.
