Scholastic News and Science Spin magazines will bring appropriate, current, curriculum-connected news stories to our second graders. These magazines will increase content area knowledge, build upon nonfiction-reading skills, enrich their vocabulary and inspire a love of learning in our classroom. Scholastic News and Science Spin will be used for whole group lessons, partner reading, centers and independent reading. The brightly colored photographs will grab students attention and get them excited about reading current events in our world. Scholastic News and Science Spin magazines extend the learning beyond the classroom. Students will have the opportunity to bring the magazines home to share with their families. This interaction will continue the conversation and build upon their knowledge of the natural and social world around them and also help develop fluent readers.
