My students will be able to see many of their stories portrayed through these books. As they read, my students will develop their English proficiency, but they will also gain confidence in who they are and in sharing their identity with others. Their learning experiences will become much more relevant and meaningful and they will help them succeed as they are embark on their educational journey in a new country. These set of books will be used for read-alouds, independent reading activities, and book groups. These readings will be accompanied by extended projects in which students will be given the opportunity to share their stories. All three of these activities are essential for boosting literacy and language acquisition in the classroom!
