I teach English Learners and Multilingual Learners from many different countries such as Liberia, Haiti, Guinea, Ghana, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Ecuador, Costa Rica, Honduras, and Guatemala. My English Learners span the globe with diverse experiences, require different organizational structures and instructional supports based on their English language proficiency levels to address their specific literacy, numeracy, academic development, and cultural needs. Most of my students are Newcomers and SLIFE, students with limited and interrupted formal education and because of the language barrier limits their understanding concerning certification school topics. I will be able to immediately connect conversations and remove language barriers for our multilingual students and their families. I won't have to spend time locating a person to interpret our conversations, or wait to translate documents. Pocket talk will allow us to communicate and understand each other's ideas and cultures almost immediately.
