At the Even Start family literacy program of Arlington we witness amazing, multi-generational learning every day. Our students are from many countries and speak multiple languages. Most had little or no formal education in their native country. They are all the parents of English learners in our school system and their goal is to help their children learn. These brave and dedicated adults come to us to learn English and basic literacy skills. They also learn about American school systems, k-12 curriculum, positive discipline, nutrition, accessing community resources and many other topics that enhance the whole family's learning experience. They engage in many hands-on activities they can replicate at home to help their children meet developmental milestones and achieve academic success.
