Our society is always changing, and our textbooks cannot always keep up with the changes. The Choices Scholastic magazine is a supplement to the textbook and provides students with current up to date information. Students enjoy the articles in the magazines while also learning about such topics as teen health, social media safety, bullying, relationship drama, and lifelong success. “Students can’t resist the attention-grabbing articles and eye-catching photos on each page of Choices magazine!” (quote from Jennie Yabroff the executive editor of Choices Magazine) Since budget cuts several years ago, I have been unable to order a classroom set of Choices Magazines. I would love to add this additional educational item back to my classroom. I will also use the magazines to help support our school-wide initiative to improve reading and writing scores. Students will read articles in the magazines and then summarize what they have read in the articles. The magazines will be sent to my classroom throughout the year with 35 copies arriving at eight different times during the school year. The subscription will also include digital resources, teacher support, and class lessons. I look forward to enhancing my students’ learning experiences this year.
