Our school will host a literacy night at Madison where it's our goal to build a community of readers and bridge the reading gap. It's our goal to provide parents with strategies to increase literacy at home. One way to expand literacy is to have access to books. The selected books will be given to students who lack access to books at home. Madison students and parents from kinder-6th grade will greatly benefit from these resources. I have selected a range of books, both fiction and nonfiction, which are interesting for beginning readers. In addition, the Spanish Alphabet Tub will be used to help students with learning initial letter sound in kinder and build vocabulary. Some of the items will be used for years to come and benefit many more students and families. Students have trouble having access to books Spanish and this project will get books in their hands.
