I intend to use the manipulative materials to engage students in the hands-on learning of Mathematics. I will use them to introduce counting, forms, patterns, number and color recognition and practice these concepts. The reading manipulative materials will help students recognize letters and prepare them for the emergent literacy stage. Other materials will provide a better learning environment in the learning center and will help me to organize student portfolios. By funding this project I can provide my class with all the supplies needed to complement the curriculum and accomplish my goal: It is that my students come to the school eager to learn. My class will have a significant learning with this variety of resources. This is the fist time teaching this grade level and my compromise with the students is to build strong foundation for their future.
