Our students come from generational poverty, and hunger is a real concern in our community. In addition to intense poverty, our students survived a major hurricane two years ago, and many have families that are still struggling to get back on their feet. Our students are learning lifelong skills in the agricultural science class that will help provide them with nourishment for years to come, thus reducing hunger in our community. With rain barrels, our students are learning about sustainability during the dry season and our trimmer will help keep grass and other weeds from choking out our plant life.

About my class
