The activities, games and books will be used during our Social Skills groups to help our students learn the necessary social and emotional skills that are an integral part of becoming an adult. The bulk of our students come from lower socioeconomic backgrounds and struggle emotionally, financially, and environmentally. Many students have not learned the basic skills of appropriate social interaction and struggle with decision making and emotional regulation. Group activities are huge part of the social interaction/social learning process for our students. It is through group participation that students learn how to interact with their peers in an appropriate manner as well as learn how to speak up for themselves and share their perspectives or experiences. By implementing the activities that are outlined in the requested resource materials, students will learn healthy ways to manage their emotions, as well as learn how to properly process feelings of frustration, anger, and anxiety. By donating to this project, you will assist in empowering our students to make better decisions socially, emotionally, and behaviorally. You will also aid in helping them to become stronger mentally and academically.
