Imagine your child begin to cry, out of frustration and disappointment because they are not yet able to read their favorite book independently. That is unfortunately the reality for some students who struggling readers. The use of hands-on materials like the wands and bingo chips allows students to use their hands and eyes while they are blending and segmenting words which is essential to becoming a fluent reader. The chart paper allows us to work together to complete shared writing activities and the folders and writing paper allows students to work on their writing independently. These materials help create a literacy community where students have what they need in order to be become successful.
