Reading for pleasure is such an important part of literacy. The books I've chosen reflect so many aspects of the human experience, such as race, ethnicity, physical appearance, and sexual orientation, and also cover a broad range of reading levels for different readers. By cultivating and curating a diverse classroom library, I hope to make a difference in my students' learning by giving them choice and independence in their reading. I hope that by seeing a variety of books in their classroom that hold multitudes of stories, my students can see that there is story out there for them to get lost in.
