Students in our community need an escape from reality. Navigating life while in middle school is tricky from the start. Now, add to that a layer of complications that arise from being raised in a low socioeconomic community and a global pandemic and you have a recipe for a middle school mental health meltdown! My goal is to promote literacy while providing students a mental escape through reading. I would like to provide each student in our middle school with a new book on the first day of every month. I want them to keep it; to read it; to take a mental vacation from the troubles of their world and look to forward to the next book that will arrive for them in a month. School should be a place of hope and happiness and I intend to improve this aspects with this project.
