Social and emotional learning is the process through which children understand and manage emotions, set and achieve positive goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships, and make responsible decisions. These items are going to be used during one-on-one counseling, group counseling, guidance lessons, and interventions with students. The social skills books allow students to not focus on the issues that may be causing students stress, anxiety, anger, and other emotional stress. The small group counseling books will help my students grow. My goal is to give my students the skills they need to be successful. The calming tools are a great method to allow the students to calm down and release anger and stress. In order for a student to be successful in school, all their emotional needs need to be met.
