The death of a loved one can change everything for a high school student. In Philadelphia, our students experience death at a rediculously high rate- parents, caretakers, siblings, friends, grandparents. Often it is due to violence but it is also due to sickness as well. A place to relax, cry, talk and process in the counselors office is a helpful way of coping. Supplying the student with water, tissues, a note of care, and snacks will go a long way. The care bag will be a tangible token of the schools concern for their needs at the most difficult time of their lives. It can make all the difference in the world to a high schooler.
