Our school is a small school in an economically challenged urban area. Our diverse student population live in a very close knit community. They have grown up together. Because our school is small (70 - 2011 graduates) our student to teacher ratio is low. Our students can get the individualized attention that could not be obtained from larger schools. But many of our students come from troubled homes and struggle with school. Some are the first to graduate in their family. But, like most schools in Pennsylvania our budget has been severely cut. Due to state requirements we have had to add more chemistry classes. We will be using a lab space that is set up for physics. We do not have the resources to purchase supplies for an additional chemistry lab. So we are planning to do most of our lab work by demonstration or virtually.
