Second grade is a time of great growth. Students are expected to tackle new skills, learn to read in their heads, and comprehend more deeply. I believe that all students can learn and grow... so this is my job! I know my students have the brainpower to learn, but they struggle to maintain focus on their learning. Plus, their behaviors can take time away from instruction and disrupt the rest of the class. I have researched what my students need to help them maintain focus during instruction and their practice time. Some of the tools that I have requested (fidget bracelets/rings, tangle sensory fidget, wobble cushion, chair bands) will help my students keep their bodies active in a quiet way so their brains can focus and learn the content. Other tools (weighted lap pad, noise reduction headphones, whisper phones) will help them stay calm, feel safe, and limit external distractions as they learn. Please help me help my students be successful this year!
