Preschool is a new environment for all of my students. Many of them have never been in a classroom environment before this year. I aim to make my students feel like they are in a comfortable and safe space. Providing flexible seating will empower my students to make choices when feeling overwhelmed or uncomfortable; promoting decision making. Flexible seating will allow students to take charge of the learning. A desk tray will allow students to sit on the floor rather than in a chair to do their work if preferred. Flexible seating will increase student focus by getting out their wiggles by wobbling on one of the chairs or cushions. A bean bag chair will provide a safe and comfy place to calm down in. The wobble stools will allow students to fidget without causing distractions for other students. By having a variety of seating options, students will be able to work on their sharing and social skills. Providing students with choice will improve classroom rapport and will help to diminish classroom distractions.
