The unit I will teach my students is electricity and completing a circuit. We will create a flashlight using copper tape, coin batteries and LED bulbs. We will create brush bots using a small motor. And finally, we will create wiggle bots using 1.5 V motor, batteries, and an on/off switch. Students will learn the basics of electricity, safety rules, following instructions, problem solving, communication skills, real life applications, and working with partners to complete projects. Hands-on learning is so important when learning about science, and these activities provide real world application and an exciting end product that they get to take home. I am hoping the students will be excited enough to come up with the next project themselves and I will put in another DonorsChoose.org project created by my students for my students!
