While gathering in multiple small groups around the room for our daily literature circles and guided reading book club meetings, my students like to get cozy and huddle together to talk about their most recent reading. The bulky, plastic classroom chairs don’t fit around our circle table and make it hard for several students to gather together in this way. Having multiple stools rather than chairs will not only allow more students to fit in the space together but will give them the opportunity to focus more on their discussions rather than fidgeting with their big chairs that are bumping into each other!
