My students are awesome. On the first day of school, many of my students expressed that they did not like reading and writing. As their ELA teacher, I try everyday to get my students engaged in the reading and writing process. This is a daunting task. I did discover that my students have awesome imaginations and they LOVE technology. Merging ELA and coding will give my students the opportunity to merge what they love with what I love: reading and writing. CodELA will give my students the opportunity to demonstrate what they have learned in innovative and creative ways. Students could also use coding to solve real world problems in argumentative and informative writing.
