My students come from a variety of backgrounds and home languages. Some are very inexperienced using computers and, as a former computer teacher, I like to incorporate computer science into my daily lessons. Some of them don't have access to a computer at home, or parents are nervous to have their students use the internet. I teach them how to be safe, and inspire them to utilize fun, kid-friendly websites to learn anytime! Computer science education starts in Kindergarten! Some students have a difficult time adjusting to school and computers helped their engagement. Young students learn best by "gamifying" the learning. Computers allow them to play, what they believe is a game, while simultaneously learning. Although my students are young, they need to start learning about internet safety, and how to be a responsible internet citizen in the 21st century. Additionally, they have daily access to websites that help them learn letters, numbers, and eventually, how to read. I also include games of logic and teach them basic coding skills. You could be helping the next generation of students become proficient in every subject using technology!
