I was told that my incoming ESE students are always excited to use technology in the classroom, and when they do research center activities, they enjoy using innovative/non-traditional math and science resources. As we are a designated officially a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) school, technology has now infiltrated every aspect of how our classes are taught. At my previous school, using the existing technology in my classroom has proved to be quite a success as the students learn even more quickly, discover and enjoy every lesson while developing scientific exploration, analytical, and critical math skills. This year, my ESE students will assist in the Fairchild Challenge, and our school is very proud of our growing garden. The Fairchild Challenge is our award-winning, interdisciplinary, environmental science competition designed to engage students of diverse interests, abilities, talents, and backgrounds to explore the natural world. The program has been recognized as a benchmark for exceptional STEM and STEAM education and for empowering PreK-12th-grade students to become the next generation of scientists, researchers, educated voters, policymakers, and environmentally-minded citizens. We are requesting a digital camera, so we can document and capture the progress of our garden each year, as well as the work of our ESE students.
