My goal is to help grow my current classroom library. I want to encourage my students to read throughout the school year. But, being a first-year teacher, I do not currently have a wide variety of options available in the classroom. By having a variety of books available to them, they will have the ability to choose a book around their reading level or one with an interesting topic. Middle school is an important time to ensure that students grow as readers because as they move up in grade level, they are also becoming more career-ready. In order to be career-ready, the students need to have comprehension and fluency skills when applying for jobs and as they begin working in a wide variety of fields.

About my class
