I serve a variety of students from the academic-driven AP student to the I’m-just-trying-to-graduate to the at-risk and in need of nurturing. While I have provided a non-traditional seating arrangement for high school with table groups instead of the familiar rows, I want to increase the comfort of my kids as they learn in our space. We read and research in all my courses, and an area in our room to do those activities would help to enhance my students’ learning. With a conversational set of out door furniture, I can provide a classroom that encourages reading or offers a place of comfort while they research on their Chromebooks. Reading is such an important skill, yet it has lost its popularity in this digital age. This space can take the kids “out of the norm” for a few minutes to really fall in love with words! The space can also serve as a conference area for student-teacher additional help or student-student group discussion.
