These graphic novels and technology accessories will help my students access literature that is difficult for them to enjoy. In this class of students with mild/moderate learning disabilities, reading is a subject area that is challenging. The students want so badly to read and share stories with their grade-level peers. My students gravitate towards picture books or comic books rather than chapter books. Currently, our reading curriculum at the intermediate grades includes long passages and essays with multiple paragraphs. This is a bit discouraging for struggling readers. However, graphic novels build the confidence they need to continue to strive for achievement.
