With these mentor texts, my students will be reading examples of good writing. These books will encourage them to learn about the process of writing, what makes a book good, and how authors write for their audience. These texts show my students that they can write about their own experiences in a way that is interesting for the reader. Students have a hard time knowing what good writing is. These books will help them see that writing doesn’t have to be long to be effective. I will be reading them to the class during writing workshop, and sharing them with specific students or small groups of students during independent writing practice time. They will be used quite often. My students will always be able to pick them up to use as examples. Thank you for supporting our writing lessons!
