No skills help shape a child's success in school or in life more than the ability to read and write. The materials funded through this project will provide my students with the opportunity to improve their writing skills and continue to use composition books that help them express their feelings and knowledge in various ways. Students will use the materials in both our English and Social Studies classes as writing is a daily part of their work. The writing that students complete in class gives them an outlet to express their inner thoughts. Communication doesn't only happen verbally and the writing my students do in class helps them improve their comprehension and mechanics as well as helps them voice their perspectives via different genres of narrative, informational and argumentative writing. Expectations are high and I support my students by fostering a community that is safe, encourages risk and provides support in learning the essentials skills needed to craft writing that will take them to the next level as they approach the rigors of high school. The supplies you help fund will support all my students by providing them with the materials they need on a daily basis to become successful and avid writers.
