The dramatic play center is always the favorite/most popular center in my classroom. Boys, girls, special needs, ESL, etc.—EVERY child loves to dress up, pretend, and imagine. I would love to be able to introduce new materials into our dramatic play center and give them more variety in their play options. These materials would help increase vocabulary as we introduce new words or label familiar items. It helps us with math skills in counting out place settings or creating recipes. It works on writing skills when students are “taking orders” in their restaurant. Social skills are developed as kids learn to work together and problem solve. Dramatic play areas give kids so many opportunities to learn and develop while still getting the chance to play and be kids.
