This year I am teaching Geometry and Algebra II while serving as the teacher facilitator for MESA (Mathematics, Engineering, Science Achievement). These supplies will help provide my classroom with enriching hands on opportunities to learn!
I am super excited for the Linking Cubeset because they are a great tool to teach how to use blueprints, perspective, and feel the difference between surface area and volume!
The compasses, protractors, and rulers will help supplies that are broken so that I can offer all students access. Students will also have several projects which focus on synthetic geometry as they apply their knowledge of constructions to real world scenarios. I also always do an art project where they construct beautiful works to decorate the classroom that are inspired by circles and their intersections! The whiteboard compass will help me effectively show students how to use their compass since my projector doesn't capture my movements well.
Finally, I make my own index cards by cutting down paper to the size of 3" x 5" and this paper cutter will make it so much easier! I also use it to make the perfect size papers for when we do activities with Mobius strips, origami flexagons, and to make half sheets for warmups. With so many students coming in and out and all of hands on activities that require materials to be shared, it is essential to have hand santitizer to cut down on germs in the winter season!
