My classroom is a place with built in supports, visuals, and manipulatives to help my students with autism and related disabilities learn and prosper. Since the outbreak of COVID-19, I have been doing my best to support their learning from afar, but without the supports, visuals, and manipulatives we had at school in their home environment it can be difficult. My students need the supports and routine that we had in the classroom to carry over into the home setting. With the materials in this project, I can create visuals (visual schedule, rules, directions, etc.) and behavior supports (token economy card, first, then board), as well as provide families with some of the routine elements of our classroom (manipulatives, art supplies independent work bins, fidget toys, sensory items). My hope is to continue using many of the items I lend to families when we return to the classroom eventually.
