My inner city students deserve the opportunity to feel proud of their musical accomplishments and not feel inferior to their suburban counter parts. With kids tuned into technology in all areas of their lives, incorporating sound equipment into marching band can excite them and keep them coming back for more. Adding electronics can make our program more accessible to the audience, by making the music more listenable and relatable. More and more marching bands are using technology and incorporating electronics into their practice, rehearsal, performances and marching competitions. Technology in education is here to stay, in some capacity or another, and my students deserve the opportunity to use it to realize their true potential.
