I have been teaching the same students for the past 5, going on 6, years. I have been with this group of students since they were 4th graders, and now I am their high school history teacher. In the past when they were younger, I offered flexible seating options. Moving to high school was a challenge in terms of my room decor because I wanted my room to feel more mature for my older students. With that came losing a lot of the flexible seating I had for my younger students. Now, I am looking to bring more flexible seating back into the classroom so my students can get comfortable when learning and working. What we have right now are some really small and hard chairs which is uncomfortable, especially since my kids are older and bigger in size now. My students would love and appreciate the new furniture, and I know they would feel more "at home" in the classroom. The more inviting we make school, the better outcomes we get for student learning!
