My project was created to help use the funds from the AP Learning Partners Program. My goal is to improve instruction in my AP Literature course by giving students more options in the books that they choose to read, and therefore inspiring them to love reading again and to continue to read after they have left school. When students are empowered to make choices that drive their learning, they become more invested in the process. By being able to offer my students multiple reading options in some of our units, I want to create that sense of empowerment in my classroom. They can choose the book that sparks their interest, and thus delve more deeply into the study of literature. This will help them develop their analytical and critical thinking skills that are essential for success in college.
