These books and magazines will expand my classroom library. As a dual immersion educator, I have chosen to incorporate a variety of books which not only reflect the mission of our program in achieving biliteracy and social cultural competency, but have included reading selections which gift students an opportunity to venture into a different world through difference subject material books. Students value reading selections and take good care of the books since the fostering of literacy has been a larger focus in the classroom. With these books and magazine subscriptions, my students will be able to enrich their understanding of the world by reading a variety of titles and authors which will take them to a new world with different cultures and ideas. It is important for all students to have exposure to a variety of cultures to become well rounded and respectful citizens of our ever changing society. In addition, it would reinforce the importance of being bilingual. Since many of my students lack easy access to materials in Spanish because of the lack of availability, they would continue learning in Spanish, as they read about different Spanish speaking countries and their culture.
