One thing I have come to realize in my time working with children is that they learn better when they are having fun. With my vast caseload, I need toys/fidgets for a varying amount of ages/needs. Most games can be modified and paired with language and articulation activities. However, some games are used specifically for "brain breaks." Students are noticeably more engaged when they know they are going to be having fun. Play therapy not only helps the child, but it also helps the therapist as well. With play therapy, behaviors are reduced and students attend better. These little ones work so hard during their school day. I think it's important that we remember that they want to have fun.
