I want to make a space in our classroom where the students can use an abundance of resources along side materials from their own home so they can develop, invent and design their own projects from their own imagination. I will ask the parents to bring in items from their home like magazines, newspapers ads, egg crates, boxes or anything else they may want to get rid of. The children will be free to use all the materials available so their imaginations can soar! The students will be so engaged and focused on their plan, design and implementation that they will not be disruptive to their peers and will have so much pride in their creation. They will learn communication skills, cooperation, teamwork, literacy, math skills and gain self esteem. The Art and Block areas are already the busiest centers in our classroom. My students love to design and create and be engaged. This will be a welcomed addition to our class and a great way for my students to use their minds in a productive way.
